I just read an interview with former Office” start Mindy Kaling on how she lost weight and completely transformed her body. In this blog post I would like to give my thoughts on some of the things she revealed during the interview with Entertainment Tonight.
The first thing that she stated was that she just eats what she likes just less of it. She stated that she does not take well to restrictive diets and needs the freedom to eat what she wants when she wants. While I understand what she is trying to say the fact is that eating less of what you want is, in fact, restricting your diet. Unfortunately or fortunately, depending on how you look at it, we live in a society where food is plentiful and available at all times. Everyone must restrict their diet to some degree in order to not gain weight.
She goes on to say that in the past what she would do to slim down would be repetitively eat certain low calorie foods like Salmon and spinach. While doing this will certainly lead to weight loss it is obviously not sustainable long term. She admitted as much and said that she would face burnout from “dieting” after 3 months. In our weight loss offices in Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky we stress variety in eating as a way of life. We believe that it is possible to lose weight and maintain a weight loss without feeling like you are on a “diet”.
It is very refreshing to hear from someone in the public eye that weight loss does not have to be an overbearing chore. Health and happiness do not need to be mutually exclusive.Schedule an Appointment
